How to Get Long-Lasting Backlinks

There’s a clear rule when it comes to backlinks: you’ll be on the receiving end of the wrath of Google, and all the other search engines, for adding unnatural links.

Indeed, search engine algorithms have gotten smarter against black-hat backlinking, but they’ve also made quality control ever harder for the average website trying to rank.

Here are some digital marketing tips to get quality backlinks in the current search climate.

Include Imagery

Let’s start with something that still works, shall we? While I would certainly recommend infographics, it might be tricky for some who’s not a digital marketing expert to earn backlinks through them.

While learning the ropes, you could instead do something you’re comfortable with, like creating charts and Venn diagrams with information from a credible source or your own research.

The simplest way to go about it is by attaching high-resolution stock photos available on royalty-free image sites.

Get a Shoutout on a Listicle

People have wanted the best value for money since the beginning of time, so it only stands to reason that they’ll think in terms of the top 10 or 20 of headphones, notebooks, and every other thing under the sun.

Do your best to get featured in such listicles while also adding external links. You can make a deal with another business in your industry—they link you, and you follow suit. Be subtle about it, and make such deals with several companies. It’s simple: list each other, and you shall lift each other.

Bring Existing Content Up to Speed

When you go back and revise what’s already on your site, it gives Google the idea that you’re proactive and serious about the market you’re in. I’m talking basic typos, broken links, and new additions, like updated external and internal links, graphics, SEO optimization, and throwing back to blogs on your socials.

The benefits of doing the above are way more than just an increased click-through rate and higher traffic.

Get Listed in Directories

As far as local SEO is concerned, directories are the best way to gain traction within your target region. Choose wisely from Google My Business, Yelp, or any other directories that may cater to your niche.

Make sure you’re not listed in a poorly linked directory. Such platforms are short-lived, and they can even lead to Google penalizations.

Take it From a Digital Marketing Specialist

A solid backlinking strategy has to be altered and adjusted to the nature of your market, targets, and what the competition’s up to.

Therefore, you might know all the options to earn quality backlinks and it’ll still backfire because you don’t have a layout.
